Like many, I watched in utter disgust the televised murder of George Floyd. Tragically, this was just the latest incident in a long history of social and human injustices. These tragedies have significantly and disproportionately affected people of color in our country.
We at Monogram have long embraced diversity as one of our values and have always been committed to treating all of our team members equally and with dignity and respect. But we can and need to do more so that we can better support those communities fighting for justice and better embrace diversity of team members at all levels. As a company, we alone cannot erase racial injustices in this country or even in the communities in which we operate, but must do our part to enable and drive change and equality. Monogram should not and can not remain silent. We need to educate ourselves and others. To start we need to look within, so I want to begin by asking any and every one part of Monogram for their constructive suggestions of what we can do better to do our part. We are prepared to allocate the resources and take the initiative to educate ourselves as a company. Desmond Tutu said, “If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor.” I am committed to learning more about how a company our size can better engage and better lead by our actions. Just as our country must do better, Monogram can and must do better.
